Claire takes the BMW 1M Coupe up the Goodwood hillclimb
Although the Goodwood Festival of Speed doesn’t actually start until tomorrow, today saw the second year of the Goodwood Moving Motor Show kicking off a long weekend of petrolhead joy. The USP of the Goodwood MMS is the opportunity – for a lucky few – to take an interesting bit of kit up the Goodwood hillclimb. This year Claire had drawn the tickets for the day; tickets Volvo had kindly sent us (many thanks, guys) after they asked us to drive the hillclimb in a Polestar car.
The first Lexus Design Award has been launched that gives the next generation of designers the chance of seeing their work showcased at next year's Milan Design Week. The theme of this global competition is ‘Motion', with Lexus looking for designs that respond to issues in daily life that relate to ‘Motion' as well as providing solutions. Two of the ten award winners will then develop prototypes with a renowned designer – either Sam Hecht or Junya Ishigami – acting as their mentor.
We got our first look at the new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-class sedan last month in a series of photographs released by the German automaker. Now, amid the melee of the Detroit auto show, we finally get to see the fourth-generation C-class in person. As expected, the new car does a great impression of a baby S-class with a strong front end, plenty of side-sculpting and a gentle slope to the rear.
